I am the Chief Editor of “Let Life In,” a 50plus online web magazine (www.LetLifeIn.com)
History:
In 2001, I founded Alive & Kicking Advertising, a marketing and creative service focused on the so-called mature market of those over 50. I was the President and Creative Director.
At the same time, I started 50plus Online Magazine and was the editor and lead writer. 50plus Online Magazine focused on contemporary issues but approached them from a 50+ perspective.
In 2005, I evolved 50plus Online Magazine into “Let Life In” (www.LetLifeIn.com) and expanded its content and capabilities. It’s fun, entertaining reading and at times, eye-opening.
I believe that “Let Life In” is an attitude and a philosophy about being 50+. We are ready to explore what is out there, express what we feel and in the process, enrich our lives. But it’s also about experiencing the full spectrum of life – the concerns and controversies, the ups and downs - not just the good stuff.
“Let Life In” is based on the premise that we who are 50+ are many things besides being 50+. (Personally, I am a little tired of the labels pinned on us – Seniors, Senior Citizens, Baby boomers, Aging boomers (aaagh!).
The labels imply that we are all the same and our opinions and voices can be lumped together.—which of course is not true. We are married, single, divorced, widowed, retired, working, unemployed, wealthy, middle class, physically fit, disabled, Republicans, Democrats, meat eaters, gym rats, vegetarians, gay, straight, parents, grandparents, and most recently, parents of seniors. We are introverts, go-getters, old fashioned, trendy, and every race and religion under the sun. We just all happen to be over 50. Then of course there are regional, economic, and educational differences. You get the picture.
We are interested in pursuing relationships both with our friends and families, as well as romantic relationships—which include love and sex. We want to travel, continue working as long as we can, interact, have fun, continue our educations, stay healthy, plan our retirements, enjoy our grandchildren, read, think —you name it. When it comes to people 50+, there is no one size fits all.
I have a reputation of telling the truth about our lives and sometimes that becomes controversial I talk about many of the things that are awkward to talk about as well as things that must be talked about. Editorially, “Let Life In” is not always politically correct but it’s always stimulating. I believe our readers can take it. Our readers are invited to submit their thoughts, ideas and points of view. They all get posted in a section called “Your Stories.”
